Most used Mac Key Commands for Designers

This is my list of “recommend because I use them dozens of times a day” key commands for designers working on Apple computers.

Take Screenshots

Press Shift-Command-3Take a screenshot of your entire screen and save it automatically as an image on your desktop.
Press Shift-Command-Control-3Saves your entire screen image to your clipboard.
Press Shift-Command-4Saves as an image on your desktop. Select your area to screen capture. Move the crosshair cursor to draw over the area you want to capture.
Press Shift-Command-Control-4Saves your image to your clipboard. Select your area to screen capture. Move the crosshair cursor to draw over the area you want to capture.

Copy and Paste

Press Command-CCopy. This puts a copy of your text, image, or another copy/paste item on your clipboard.
Press Command-VPaste. Pastes what is on your clipboard to wherever your cursor is for text, images, or other copy/paste items.

Screen Management

Press Command-HHide an application. Repeat to hide each application, one by one, to finally show just your desktop.

Reveal Hidden Files

Press
Command + Shift + [.]
