Help, how do I draw a PATH and not a SHAPE in Adobe After Effects? This video tutorial shows you how to select a Fill of None for a path or shape in Adobe After Effects.
The video shows how to create paths in Illustrator and contrasts the process with Adobe After Effects (surprisingly, it’s a bit different!).

Now when your shape is selected, the word FILL can be clicked. Clicking Fill opens a modal that allows you to change the fill from none to solid or a gradient, as well as adjust the layer blend mode and opacity.

You can also use Option-Click on your Mac and click the Fill rectangle. This will cycle you through fill options: solid fill, none, linear gradient, and radial gradient.
