Hello, world. I’m Kelly Barkhurst—an experienced Mac-based full-stack designer, educator, and entrepreneur passionate about blending artistic vision and creativity with deep technical expertise. With a BFA and MFA in Graphic Design and a certificate in Full-Stack Web Development, I’m uniquely positioned to work at this intersection of design and tech. My driving force is creating meaningful, impactful solutions and helping clients and students do the same.
What’s Kelly’s superpower? It’s using design thinking to strategically plan the BIG picture, then diving deep into the technical “weeds” to bring that vision to life—whether through beautiful visual design, compelling writing, or well-crafted, functional code.

Arts and Bricks
Arts and Bricks is the name of a highly-ranked Kid’s Activity blog and e-commerce store. The Arts and Bricks website began as my creative outlet to embrace my family’s love of Art and LEGO bricks. It expanded into a design business that creates and prints window and wall decals designed from children’s artwork and brick-built creations (MOCs). Adjunct Instructor
I fell in love with the energy a classroom full of students provides teaching as a graduate assistant. Upon graduation, I continued teaching, and since 2010, I’ve served as an adjunct instructor at West Virginia University.
